Road to forgiveness

Hello!  How are you? I hope you're fine and in good health. Today I'm back with another blog Road to Forgiveness. So before we move on I'd love to tell you an incident which happened with me, 2 days before. Now as the conditions are starting to become normal, colleges have started to freely function and so did mine.  So every morning I travel by bus to my college and I love that journey. Since my childhood I've been that wanderlust person, who enjoys the journey be it by bus, or any other transport, especially in the mornings. There are lesser people out there and sun is just leaving it's home. It's just so beautiful! So I was clicking the pictures from the window (offcourse I'm a window seat person :) ) as the bus stopped at a place. A lady climbed in at that stop, and then as she was planning to sit near me there was a speed breaker so the lady trembled and she accidentally dropped my bag which was kept on that seat, in an attempt to handover it to me...

Phubbing

Hey hi! How are you? I hope you're fine. Good to see you back. Last week I had a get together with my friends. We had a good chitchat in the first 30 minutes had good food but it only ended up like this shown in the above picture. Well that was not the first time I had seen this scene, or you're seeing it. We all go through such scenes everyday. All thanks to Covid 19& smartphones!  And this very phenomena is called as phubbing. Making it more simple, phubbing involves using a smartphone while with people and interacting with the smartphone rather than the person or people present. Now you might wonder & say क्या ही फरक पडता हे! Because Phubbing may seem like a relatively harmless or simply annoying, part of modern life, many of us have even got used to it. But research is finding that it may have a significant impact on your mental health. How? Lets see! When someone phubs you, you may feel rejected, excluded, and not important because we all are part of this amazin...

Killing distractions!

Few days back I was talking to my friend who wants to Give CET but isn't able to concentrate, there are many distractions in her life, which makes it difficult to her to concentrate. So, I decided to write a blog on distractions according to my understanding.  When I researched upon Distractions- I got a definition of Distraction on wiki Which was:    Distraction is the process of diverting the attention of an individual or group from a desired area of focus and thereby blocking or diminishing the reception of desired information. Distraction is caused by: the lack of ability to pay attention; lack of interest in the object of attention; or the great intensity, novelty or attractiveness of something other than the object of attention. Well sorry for lots of jargons!😂😂 But in simple words according to me, Distractions are everything that seems more interesting than our duty.  You will always have 2 options anyways: Maths class or party, vadapav/pizza etc or ghar ka khana, Instagr...

Optimism

Hey!! Good to see you back again. Today we are going to talk about optimism.  Now what is optimism? You might be wondering about it ,right? So let's discuss and understand what optimism is. Optimism is merely a feeling that whatever will happen to me in present or future will be good. Everything has something good for me! Just think if everyone around in the world being so enthusiastic and positive! The world would have been on next level. N ow, let's learn something about optimism  by below story. The patient by the window! Once upon a time, a patient, severely ill, was admitted to a hospital. He was bed ridden & could not move. He was feeling miserable & his condition had made him really negative & pessimistic about life.He was shifted to a room which had only one window & the bed near the window was occupied by another patient. Every afternoon, when the patient by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the bea...

Anger Management

Hey,hi! Good to see you back again. By the way have you seen the above picture?! I feel most of you have!😂 And if you have seen it, you can hear this picture🤣 Yesterday I went through an article of laughing therapy, which reminded me of Boman Irani sir's role in Munna Bhai- MBBS, who used it as a way of anger management. So, I thought let's complete the anger series. So here I'm with an another amazing topic of Anger: Part 2 Well in the last part of our blog we saw the reasons why we get anger and how the brain works during such situations. If you haven't read the previous blog, you can visit here . In this part we are going to see some techniques to effective anger  management. What is Anger management? Anger is a normal and healthy emotion, but sometimes it can become overwhelming and then turns rampant. Anger is ok until it turns into an habit. We see some people get into that short temper habit. When anger becomes an habit it destroys your relationship a...

Pause!

Hello!! So if you are here, now pause on until next 10 minutes, this will definitely change your life!! Once a bird was searching for a home to lay her eggs and get shelter in this heavy rainy season. In her search she saw 2 trees and ask first one for shelter. But the first tree refused to give her shelter. The bird got very disappointed, now she went to the second tree and hopefully it agreed. She made her home and layed her eggs. Now the rainy season had arrived, bird was very happy and grateful that she got shelter. At the same time she saw that the first tree had felt down because of heavy rains and it got carried away by flood. The bird saw this and she taunted it " See this is your karma, now God has given you this punishment. " To which the tree smiled and said, " I knew I'm not going to survive this rainy season that's why I refused you. I didn't want to risk your and your children's lives. Which just stunned the bird and she became silent. S...

Decision making - An Important skill!

Yesterday I revisited 2nd adhyaya of Bhagwadgeeta, through my beloved friend -  Nisha Channe's blog . She is the youngest individual to write Shrimad Bhagwadgeeta-according to today's era. If you wish to visit her blog ,just click here Coming back to the point,I personally feel 2nd adhyaya of Bhagwadgeeta is important. In this adhyaya is where Arjuna expressed his dillemas regarding the kurukshetra yuddha. He expressed his fears regarding losing his own kins, and hence wanted to back off from the fight. Here shri krishna played a role of counsellor in the life of Arjuna. He guided him from confusion towards a conclusion. And that is why I felt to write a blog on decision making. Decision making is one among the most important skill,an individual must have. Many a times we have dillemas just like Arjuna had, whether to do or not to do. Should I take this course or should I not? Should I talk about it or should I not? Should I do this or not? Will it be appropriate ? What will m...

Empathy- A Magical Tool!

I am sure many of you may agree when I say that it is the situation where we think, “ what is the right thing to say in this case ?” Uncertainty of corona has hit us all in different ways. Some of us are lucky to be strong and positive. Some of us have been feeling slightly worried or negative. Social distancing has made us make video calls or calls to our friends in the hope that we will feel better after talking to them This is where my problem started. I have been fortunate to be very positive in these times. But when a friend called me and said, “You know I am feeling so anxious that this is going to be the end of world”, I have been at a loss of words. I was racking my brain quickly, praying that it works faster than the fastest computer to come up with a, hopefully, pre-fed correct response. Unfortunately that didn't happen. If these were the normal days I would have told her that let's meet and you'll feel better. But here words would only save me and I had terribly ...

Positive reinforcement

Effects of positive reinforcement! I have to give credits to my mom-dad and My beloved mentors for encouraging me do various things, explore my interests in this period of lockdown, this blog page is also a result of that encouragement. Back then in last August I wrote my first write-up and considered sending it to my professor Abhra Sir  and my mentor RC sir  to which I got an amazing feedback :- Very good!  Seeing this feedback my mom encouraged me to write blogs on Psychology subject and create awareness regarding mental health. I obviously took this encouragement very seriously and this blog of 13  (Now 14) posts is an ultimate result! My mom positively reinforced & engaged me into something I love and it makes me feel better! Positive reinforcement is basically small things that make you feel better and make you do something again and again like chocolates, praise, money, talking to friends etc . For example, if you give a kid a chocolate for cleaning a room, he/she will probabl...

Some people will say Its a state of mind  in which we experience lots of positive emotions , some will say happiness is a feeling of contentment.  Everyone will have their different definitions of happiness and their different reasons to be happy . For example :some people will be happy because they got promotion i...

Mental Health during Times of Covid

Hello ! Good to see you back again. I sincerely hope and pray that everyone in your family and friends are doing well and they are in good health.  Today I'm back with another blog on mental health during times of covid. Nowadays the mental health of people is on stake .Thanks to all the news channels! So I thought of writing on this topic and spreading positivity will be a worthy contribution towards all my readers and society . Okay so let's quickly jump on our topic . Firstly I would like to ask a question . Have you all seen a magnifying glass (भिंग)? It's an amazing tool right ! I'm sure you all might have played with it in your childhood or maybe playing right now too😜 (I'm of strong opinion of not losing the child inside us!). Anyways I would like to highlight it's peculiar quality ; whatever we concentrate it on, it makes it big ,larger than actually it is. Amazing right!! Same way we all have a magnifying glass in our body too! Yes , and it's known...

Life above zero and Resilience

While cleaning my room recently, I found a ball hidden under a cupboard. I had these colourful, rubber balls which used to come in many sizes. Many might actually know their name too; THE CRAZY BALLS. The peculiar thing about these balls was that the harder you throw them on the ground, the higher they used to bounce; and by higher I mean they literally managed to touch the ceiling once. I realized that these balls can represent a very important concept and skill in a very comic, graphic way, in my head. The concept is called “resilience and life above zero.” Imagine if our life was plotted on a graph paper. Let’s say, the X-axis lies at the centre of the paper, at 0. Everything negative, a lot of negativity, bad health would go below this X axis, which would be life below zero. Then remember the math rule we learnt by heart- positive and negative cancel each other out. So, equal bits of positive and negative, will equal to zero and lie on the X axis. Then finally, lots and lots of po...

Anger~Part 1

Hello everyone!! So I am going to tell you a story Once, there was a son who had a very bad temper, and he sincerely wanted to improve. His dad told him, “If you want to improve your temper, then every time you get angry, I want you to take a nail and hammer it in the big tree in our backyard.” So that’s what the son did. At the beginning, he’d put 5 or 6 nails in each day. After a few days, he was startled at how many nails he’d already put into the tree. He thought, “I had no idea my temper was this bad!” The son then worked hard to not get angry. After a period of hard work, he was able to have days where he didn’t get angry at all. Then, his dad told him, “For each day you don’t get angry at all, you can remove one nail from the tree.” The son was very happy to hear this. He worked hard, and over a long period of time, finally came the day where he could remove the last nail from the tree. He told his dad proudly, “I did it! That’s the last nail gone!” The dad replied, “Even t...

Self care- A way of nourishing self

Hello everyone, Today I am up with new blog, on an vital element called self care So,.. whats Self care? Why is it important to have self care practices? You all might be binging with these questions , Right? I've written my blog on this concept and have taken enough care that you get enough answers to your questions. Whats Self care: The idea behind self-care directs us towards taking care of ourselves in every manner be it physically, mentally or emotionally. Though, these days ‘social’ and ‘spiritual’ self-care has also become a big part of this notion.  Any form of a conscious act by a person to promote their overall well-being is part of self-care. There are many taboos of people regarding self care. People feel that foundation of self care comes from a selfish environment and emotions. People associated this term with not caring or caring less about others and being more self absorbed. But what is ‘self-care’ really? In plain words, self-care can be understood as taking good ...

Setting Boundaries: A Way Of Respecting Self And Relationships!

Have you ever felt being ignored , or hurt by people around you, or felt worthless? If yes , then most of the time its because ◆Your expectations are hurting you,   ◆ Or you allow others to take you for granted by your behaviour This is the same topic of our blog which I am going to address today. ☘️Why boundaries over Expectations? What are Boundaries ;boundaries are guidelines, rules or limits that a person creates to identify reasonable, safe and permissible ways for other people to behave towards them and how they will respond when someone passes those limits. They are built out of a mix of conclusions, beliefs, opinions, attitudes, past experiences and social learning. Whereas talking about expectations,It  is a strong belief that something will happen or be the case.It is a belief that is centered on future , it may or may not be realistic, that means it has lots of uncertainty.  Let's understand what are Expectations and Boundaries in brief: Expectations come from n...

Habit building- life changing factor!

Okay so let's start with a simple question, what are habits? - A habit is a routine of behaviour that's repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. In simple words, habits are rituals and behaviours that we perform on daily basis, and that too automatically! Isn't it amazing that how after getting up, we search for our brush, get showers, and do the same routine repeatedly, without actually thinking about them! We all have habits. These habits decide the way of our life. They even sometimes decide our character! All our habits have become an important part of our life. So let's talk something on habits Habits are basically divided into 3 parts : 1) Habits that we simply don't notice-have become an active part of our life , eg: brushing teeth, getting showers, having your shoe lace tied etc 2) Habits that are good for us and we are trying hard to establish them as our lifestyle. ex: running, getting up early , having healthy foods, avoiding procrastination...
